Here I am with another easy and fast tutorial for awesome bath fizzies which you can press in your milkyway or silicone molds.
For this tutorial I've selected silicone rose mold and our English Rose fragrance. You may easily adapt the recipe to any other mold. Since we are not selling the forms in SkinChakra® online shop, I recommed you to order the molds by Seifenformen if you're located in Germany or by Brambleberry if you're located elsewhere on the world.
Before we start I want to recommend you to read our older posts about general information regarding hygienic manufacturing practice in cosmetic lab, introduction to Basic equipment and utensil for a cosmetic lab.
For this project ( 6 Roses in a mold each ca. 125 gr) you'll need:
40 gr Lysolecithin
5-10 drops of D&C Red color dispersed in Glycerin
You'll need as well
a glass or stainless steel bowl to mix the ingredients
Spatulas or suitable spoons to mix the ingredients
suitable Mold (Milkyway or silicone mold work perfect)
Here we go
One: in a suitable bowl mix citric acid and sodium bicarbonate.
Disclaimer: Wear gloves to protect your nails and nail color from sodium hydrogen carbonate. It is the very same ingredient applied in household cleaners and has an excellent polishing effect on surfaces. You don't want to mix your nail varnish in bath fizzies do you?
Mix the ingredients with hands and try to smooth any clumps which might be in the bowl. If there are still any clumps you should pass the mixture through a sieve.
Two: Add Camelina oil, lysolecithin and the color. Apply the color very sparingly. Mix the ingredients with the hands (don't forget the gloves)
Three: After you're happy with the color, add the fragrance oil and mix further. Check the consistency of the mixture it should be like wet sand and should be formed easily in your hands. Id it is too dry add about a table spoon of lysolecithin and continue mixing.
Four: This is the most important part. Press the mixture as compact as possible in to cavities. Remember the harder you press, the more beautiful and detailed would be the result. This is much more difficult with silicone molds than milkyway or HD molds but the result is the whole pain worth. For an optic effect you may pour a few rose petals into each cavity before you press the powder into mold.
Let the bath fizzies be in mold for at least 24 hours.
Bringing the bath fizzies out of mold is much easier than pressing in. They come almost spontaneously out of mold (specially out of silicone mold). Be however careful to be gentle. If you happen to destroy a flower by chance, add a few drops of camelina oil or lysolecithin, mix and then press the mixture once more into the mold. You should as good as no waste with this instruction.
Enjoy the beautiful form and the awesome fragrance in a luxurious bath for you or give it to a dear person who deserves this piece of art.
