We generally do not recommend making or using any artisanal (and certainly no DIY) sun protection products. But aftersun care is at least as important as sun protection and there are a bunch of aftersun products that you can easily make in an artisanal lab to provide your customers with attractive summer special products.
At least here in Germany, the sun still in full power and has no intention to screw down a little bit.
Last week we shared a tutorial for making an aftersun body splash.
For this week, I'm sharing an easy peasy biphase emulsion. I still don't understand why biphase emulsions are not as popular as they really deserve to be. They are quite easy and fun to make and even more fun to use. No hassle of emulsification, heating, cooling, homogenizing. Just make the water and oil phase separately, adjust the pH, fill in bottle, viola.

Procedure:
1- Blend phase A and B separately in two beakers. If you have a magnetic stirrer, it's time to use it. If you don't have any, just use your spatula to blend the ingredients (the powders in the water phase may need a longer stirring to completely dissolve and blend)
2- Measure the pH of the water phase and make sure it is between 5-6,5. If the pH is lower, increase it by adding a sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate or l-Arginine solution, if it is higher, reduce it by adding a citric acid or lactic acid solution.
3- Add the magnesium sulphate to the water phase and blend.
4- Add the two phases one after another into a suitable bottle. Add the second preservative (phase D) and shake well. An emulsion is formed by shaking that should separate in a few minutes. Take another pH sample from the emulsion as you shake the bottle and readjust the pH if necessary.
5- Take your microkit sample from the emulsion as you shake the bottle.
6- The emulsion shall separate with a clean interphase between water and oil phases.
