You've probably realized that I'm obsessed with cranberry powder at the moment. Well, I've mixed two of my favourites, cranberry powder and body melts in one single product that you can use as Easter treats or any other special gift/favour.
These pieces are so cute one should attach a "do not bite" warning to the parcel.
The formulation and procedure are quite straightforward and you can go back and have a look at our previous body melt tutorials if you want to warm-up yourself.
Formulation:
Phase A |
|
Cocoa butter |
45,0% |
Myrica fruit wax |
8,6% |
Cupuacu butter |
9,1% |
Babassu oil |
9,1% |
Ascorbyl palmitate |
0,3% |
Sunflower lecithin |
0,5% |
Phase B |
|
Watermelon seed oil |
10,0% |
Strawberry seed oil |
6,5% |
Pomegranate CO2 extract |
0,9% |
Rosehip CO2 extract |
0,9% |
Natural tocopherols |
0,5% |
Rosemary CO2 extract |
0,1% |
Modified rice starch |
2,0% |
cranberry powder |
5,0% |
Phase C |
|
Sweet orange essential oil |
1,0% |
Petitgrain essential oil |
0,5% |
Procedure:
1- Blend phase A and B in separate beakers. Heat phase A in a water bath between 80-85 0C. Ascorbyl palmitae needs this high temperature to melt in the butter/wax phase. If you don't use any ascorbyl palmitate, you need to heat the butter phase according to the melting point of your waxes and butters.
2- Blend phase B in another beaker. Rice starch and cranberry powder do not dissolve in the oil phase. You only need to blend them and keep them suspended.
3- When the wax/butter phase is melted and the ascorbyl palmitate fully blended stop heating and add the oil phase.
4- Blend at room temperature to cool down to <50 0C and then add the essential oil blend.
5- Pour in a suitable mold and put the mold in the fridge for at least 6 hours (we let the mold remain in the fridge overnight)
6- Remove from mold and pack them first in wax paper and then in suitable jars or cardboard boxes. You can pack them alone or mix them with other body melts for more fun and colour variation
