With the Corona virus hanging around the globe and the vital necessity to wash the hands more often than usual, the need for mild and refatting hand washing products as well as products that you can carry with you increases as well.
I recently made a hybrid hand wash as a gift for our delivery men that I know are on the go for several hours each day and are forced to use public bathrooms during their shift. The results were so satisfactory that I went to a large scale and prepared a bunch of tubes and even several samples with a lotion pump to be used at home.
This is a hybrid between a hand washing gel and a sapogel oil-to-milk cleanser. I love sapogel cleansers as a body or facial wash but for me it's not quite satisfactory as a handwash. So I decided to add a surfactant to the oleogel and wee how it works and I was over the moon with the results. I kept this formulation very basic and I recommend you do the same when you make it for the first time.
Formulation:
Procedure:
1- Blend phase A and B in separate beakers at room temperature.
2- I use an overhead stirrer because it makes the life much easier. If you don't have any overhead stirrer, you can still easily manage small batches with a spatula. Slowly and little by little add phse B to phase A and blend completely before adding the next part.
3- When all of phase A and B are blended, slowly add the surfactant and gently stir.
4- Now we need to measure and adjust the pH. prepare a 10% dilution in distilled water and measure the pH. In our case it was 8,04
5- We added lactic acid to reduce the pH between 4,5-5,5 (to be exact to 4,84)
6- Take your stability samples and fill the rest in tube bottles or any other suitable container.
