Have you ever heard about the lipstick theory?
According to Leonard Lauder, the former chairman of Estée Laudere, the sales of lipstick skyrockets during social and economical depression. A lipstick is apparently a small affordable luxury that uplifts the mood.
Now and during this period of pandemic and lockdown and mandatory wearing of masks, nobody needs a lipstick, what everybody (independent of the gender) needs is a pampering product that is:
- microbiome friendly
- repairs and reestablishes the barrier despite excessive hand washing and disinfecting
- not boring.
This pretty and luxurious whipped cranberry balm is the quintessence of all necessities the five senses need. It looks like strawberry cream on top of a summer dessert and its as pleasing as it but with less calories and more benefits. The formulation is almost KISS and quite easy to make.

Procedure:
1- Blend phase A in a heat proof beaker and melt it in a water bath between 65-75 oC.
2- Blend phase B in another beaker. Add the powders to phase B. To avoid lumping use a sieve and add the powders gradually and little by little with complete blending after each addition.
3- When the butter phase is melted stop heating and start cooling down.
4- At a temperature lower than 50 oC add the oil-powder phase and continue cooling while stirring. You can put your beaker in the fridge and stir the content in intervals.
5- When the blend reaches a low trace add the essential oils and continue cooling and stirring till you reach a heavy trace.
6- At this point you can fill the balm in your containers or you can whip it.
7- Whip several cycles with cooling at intervals till you reach the desired consistency.
8- Fill in the containers and don't forget to take your stability and archive samples.
