It's Bath Time-Eucalyptus & Lavendel Bath Salt

At the moment I'm obsessed with eucalyptus essential oil (Eucalyptus citriodora). I apply this oil daily in my aroma lamp as a provision against cold at this time of the year and to enhance concentration during my long working hours.

I've combined eucalyptus and lavender in an easy DIY bath salt which could be used as a whole bath, foot bath or only inhalation bath. Both eucalyptus and lavender have antibacterial, analgesic and anti-stress functions as well as immune system stimulation. This salt not only relaxes the muscles, the skin friendly milk, jojoba oil and vitamin E provide your skin with moisture and an emollient film after bathing so that you don't need applying any oil/lotion after your bath. Despite their calming and anti-stress effects they both enhance concentration. Make yourself a hot whole bath or foot bath after a long day as a reward for your hard work of the day.

For this project (200 gr of Bath salt) you'll need: 

190 gr coarse Dead sea salt or Sea salt (95%)

2 gr Buttermilk (1%) 

1 gr Jojoba oil (0,5%)

1 gr Tocopherol (0,5%) 

2 gr Eucalyptus essential oil (1%)

4 gr Lavender essential oil (2%)

a few drops of ultramarine violet dispersed in glycerin 

a few drops of oxide green dispersed in glycerin 

two bowls for mixing salt and color

a suitable jar for packaging

opt. disposable pipettes

opt. Glass beakers or small bowls  

opt. dried Lavender flowers 

One: Mix in a suitable bowl the coarse dead sea salt with the butter milk.

Two: Mix in a beaker or a small bowl jojoba oil, vitamin E (Tocopherol) and essential oils of Lavender and Eucalyptus. Add this mixture to the salt-milk mixture and mix thoroughly with a spatula or spoon.

Three: Divide the salt in two parts. I prefer an uneven distribution of the colors and divide the salt in two unequal portions. Add the green color to one part and the violet color too the other part.

Four: Fill the salt according to your preference in a beautiful jar. You may fill one layer completely and then add the other one or fill several layers alternating the violet and green colors. You can add dried lavender petals on top of the salt.

Please note that this recipe does not need any preservative. We've applied jojoba oil because of its excellent emolliency and moisture retardation as well as long shelf life.
