These gorgeous bath fizzies are easy to make.
Basically, the formulation and the procedure is very similar to our Valentine's day bath fizzies. The difference is that here you press the mixture into a silicone mold or a milky way mold instead of pressing it in a twine acrylic mold.
For this formulation we have selected a seashell mold, ultramarine blue color, and our seaside fragrance oil.
Basically you can adapt this formulation to any mold, color and fragrance. The most important part is the consistency of the base as you press it into the mold. It should be like wet sand. If the base is too wet, you can add 1-2 spoon baking soda or if it is too dry and crumbly you can add 1-2 spoon of lysolecithin to adjust the consistency. After pressing the base into the mold let it rest for a few hours up to 24 hours before you press the bath fizzies out of the form. If the ambient humidity is not too high, you can leave the bath fizzies for a few days to harden completely before you wrap them. If you're working in a humid area, wrap them as soon as you press them out of the mold.
Here is what you need for this project:
60,0%- 600,0 gr baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
5,0%- 50,0 gr lysolecithin
4,0%- 40,0 gr Fragrance oil Seaside
a few drops of Ultranarine blue dispersed in Glycerin
You'll need as well
a suitable mold (silicone, milkyway or HD)
a suitable bowl to mix the ingredients
spatula or suitable spoons to mix the ingredients
Patience
Let's get started:
One: in a suitable bowl mix baking soda and citric acid. Mix them first with a spoon and then with your hands. (wear gloves to protect your nails and nail varnish) . Try to break any possible clumps. If the mixture is not very fine, you may want to pass it through a sieve to get rid of big clumps.
Two: Step by step and with mixing after each addition add the liquid ingredients to the powder. (Vitamin E, macadamia nut oil, fragrance oil and lysolecithin)
Three: Mix and knead the mixture with your hands. Be patient and knead gently. This part needs time. the consistency depends on the ambient humidity. If you have the impression that the mixture is too dry and brittle add 1-2 spoon lysolecithin, if you feel the mixture is too wet, add 1-2 spoon sodium bicarbonate.
Four: Add a few drops of the colorant. The intensity is optional. It is up to you if you want a very uniform blend or rather a marbled look.
Five: The fun part begins. Press the mixture into mold cavities. Pressing into hard molds such as milkyway or HD molds is easier than into silicone molds. The harder you press, the better the result. Smooth away the surface of the mold with a spatula.
Let the mold for a few hours up to 24 hrs before you press the bombs out of the mold.
These bath bombs are pressed out of silicone molds.
As well as these ones.
Wrap the bath bombs in cellophane or a clear foil to protect them from moisture.
