A deodorant stick is probably the most versatile and easy to us for among all deodorant forms and there is no reason why you should not make your own version of a "natural" and "baking soda free" deodorant stick. (I should confess that the bi-phase form is still my own favourite)
If you have not followed my previous posts about natural deodorants, go and have a look at them before you proceed here:
Two points before we jump into the formulation:
1-Just like other deodorant formulations I have shared, this is a deodorant and not an anti-perspirant.
2- You may need to tweak the formulation according to your climate. Increase the wax content if you're leaving in warm regions. The stick must stay hard and stable (no oil leaching) but should not feel waxy over skin.
Now let's go to the formulation and procedure

Procedure:
1- Blend each phase separately in a beaker.
2- Heat phase A in a water bath between 80-85 oC. Ascorbyl palmitate needs this high temperature to melt in the butter/wax phase. If you don't use any ascorbyl palmitate, you need to heat the butter phase according to the melting point of your waxes and butters.
3- When the wax/butter phase is melted and the ascorbyl palmitate fully blended stop heating, remove from the bath and add phase B. Blend completely before adding the next phase.
4- Now add phase C and blend completely. The consistency should be like this before you pour the blend into your stick mold
5- Pour the blend into your mold and bring it to the fridge. Let it in the fridge for a few hours (we leave it overnight)
6- At the beginning, your deodorant stick would be something between grey to beige (depending on the clay colour you use) but due to the magic of chemistry, it turns to a nice purple in 3-4 weeks.
Enjoy the silky feel and the efficacy of this deodorant (not antiperspirant) all year around.
BeHappy and have fun
