Conditioner bars (an generally everything bar) are very popular at the moment because:
1- There is no water in it (water is a strategic and precious ingredient). This means the consumer doesn't pay for something that consists up to 80% of water and doesn't pay for water transport
2- The product is self-preserving and doesn't need any preservative
3- The product doesn't need any plastic for packing. You can easily pack and wap this product in wax or tissue paper and put it in a paper bag or cardboard box.
I made different versions of this product a long time ago, have a look at this previous blog posts:
they worked perfectly and everybody was happy with them except for the disadvanzage that they melted very fast under hot water. I have now tweaked the formulation and improved it and swapped a few items and here we are:
Formulation:
Phase A |
|
Emulsense HC |
52,4% |
Cocoa butter |
2,0% |
Myrica fruit wax |
5,0% |
Coconut oil |
10,0% |
Shea butter |
5,0% |
Green tea wax |
1,0% |
Phase B |
|
Olive squalane |
5,0% |
Lexfeel natural |
10,0% |
PCA glyceryl oleate |
1,0% |
Macadamia nut oil |
1,0% |
Walnut oil |
1,0% |
Fenugreek CO2 extract |
1,0% |
Tocopherol |
0,5% |
Coconut CO2 extract |
0,5% |
Rosemary CO2 extract |
0,1% |
Oat silk |
3,0% |
Phase C |
|
Lemon zest essential oil |
1,0% |
Green mandarine essential oil |
0,5% |
Procedure:
1- Weight all ingredients of phase A and B in separate beakers.
2- Put phase A in a water bath @65-70 oC and phase B in a water bath @ 40-45 oC. This is to avoid a cold shock as you add a cold oil phase to the melted butter/wax phase. Oat silk does not dissolve in the oil phase, you only disperse it and blend.
3- Blend each phase during heating. When all of phase A is melted, stop heating and add phase B.
4- Stir gently till the blend reaches a temperature of 35-40 oC. Now add the essential oil blend and pour into the mold cavities. Bring the mold in the fridge and let it stay for at least 2 hours.
5- Remove the pieces from the mold and wrap them in wax paper.
