The plant:
Brazil nut tree is native of Amazonian rainforests. The trees can grow up to 50 meter. 15-30 nuts are encapsulated in round fruits with a diameter up to 30 cm and up to 1,5 kg weight.

Brazil nut oil has a yellow to brown colour and a subtle nutty-woody scent. Despite its high content of palmitic and stearic acid it doesn't feel greasy. It has outstanding moisture retention and film forming properties for hair and skin care products, specially for dry skin & hair and for winter care.
Brazil nut oil has a low tocopherol content but a high content of squalene (up to 1400 ppm) and phytosterols (around 1%). Beta-sitosterol is the mail phytosterol with up to 85% .

Individuals with nut allergy should be careful about this oil.
