Oil of the month: Strawberry seed oil

Strawberry oil is our oil of the month for July 2019. This means we have a fat discount on this oil through the whole month of July.

Strawberry oil:

INCI Name: FRAGARIA ANANASSA SEED OIL 
Family: Rosaceae
Iodine value: 180 
Saponification value: 194 mg KOH/gr

The oil has a dark green colour and a fruity scent. For a liquid oil it has a relatively low content of oleic acid (ca. 17%) and a remarkable content of linoleic and alpha-linolenic acids (omega-6 and omega-3 respectively). A low content of palmitic and stearic acid imparts the barrier protection and covering properties but it's not high enough to cause a greasy skin feel.

The main content of unsaponifiables consists of tocopherols (<800 ppm) with the main component being the gamma-tocopherol

Application:

The unrefined oil has a medium content of tocopherols but a relatively high iodine value. We recommend using this oil during the cool down phase and in cold process. Although there are no safety and regulatory limitations for this oil, we recommend a dosage between 1-10,0%.
